NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Three Lipscomb athletes will compete in the NCAA Track and Field Championship Preliminary Round beginning Thursday at North Florida’s Hodges Stadium. Sophomores Tucker Peabody (men’s 200m dash) and Dani Walker (women’s 5000m run) will be joined by freshman Kendra Lobley (women’s 3000m steeplechase) in Jacksonville, Fla.
Peabody will be the first Lipscomb student-athlete to compete when he runs in the sixth heat of the 200m dash. He’ll be one of four sophomores in that heat and one of 16 in the 48-athlete field, with the event scheduled to go off at 8 p.m. (ET) Friday night.
Lobley is scheduled to run at 9:30 p.m. (ET) Friday in the steeple. She is one of just seven freshmen in the 48-person field. Her 10:32.97s steeple mark ranked her in the top part of the region for most of the season.
Walker will have to wait until Saturday for the women’s 5000m event, which is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. (ET). With just two heats, Walker will be jammed into a 24-person heat featuring three athletes that went under 16 minutes this season. Her personal-best is 16:38.53s.
Should any Lipscomb student-athlete advance, the NCAA Championships will be June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa.
