JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Colin Dempster completed the first round of the 400 meters at the NCAA East Preliminaries Thursday night and broke a school record in the process.
"Colin ran hard and got a new school record,” said Bill Taylor, director of track and field. “He also got great experience that he will use to be even better next year."
Dempster crossed the line in 47.23 breaking the school record of 47.29, which he broke at the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships two weeks ago.
Despite breaking the school record, his time did not advance him to the 400-meter quarterfinals.
Madi Talbert will be the next to compete when she tackles the 3000-meter steeplechase Friday night.
