To look at the results of the indoor track meet held at Tennessee State University Jan. 7 one might never guess that this competition was a first for Lipscomb University.

"We did good at this meet as a general rule," said first-year Lipscomb head coach Karen Robichaud. "The athletes who competed are really trailblazers. This meet will serve as a springboard to bigger and better performances in the future."

• Zac Yanis won his heat in the 1,000 meters

• Elizabeth Schall won her heat in the 800-meter with a time of 2:28,

• Sarah Foster won her heat in the 200-meter with a time of 27.9\

• Micah Johnson won his heat in the 400 meter with a time of 52.68

Amanda Wright also did particularly well with a third place finish in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:41. She received a trophy for this placing.

Among other notable performances:

• Danielle Graham set a school record for the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 3 inches • Susan Worden and Paige Griffin finished in the top one-third in the one-mile

• Weldon Ehlert finished in the top one-third of the one mile with a time of 4:42

• Both the men's and women's team finished in the top-half in the distance medley relays

"I am excited to see athletes that have never competed at the college level come in and contribute such as Sarah Foster, Michael Spencer, Micah Johnson, and Danielle Graham," said Robichaud. "They just went with it and did the best they could, and we all benefited from their talents."
