Former TSU standout Williams joins Bisons as track assistant
The Lipscomb University Men’s and Women’s Track & Field programs have added Buford Williams as an assistant coach. He will work with the jumps and sprints at Lipscomb.

“Buford is a great guy with extensive first hand experience in the jumps and sprints,” says head coach Bill Taylor. “He is a terrific addition to our coaching staff. In particular, Steven Lindsey, our freshman high jumper, is really benefiting from Buford’s knowledge.”

Williams graduated from Tennessee State University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. As a standout jumper and sprinter for TSU, Williams won Ohio Valley Conference titles in the long jump or high jump five times.

He placed third or better in the long jump, high jump, triple jump or 100m eleven times, was named the OVC Male Athlete of the Championships in 2006 and was awarded as the Tennessee State University Male Athlete of the Year in 2007.

Williams also qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Regional Championships three times and served as team captain from 2007 to 2008.
