BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In just a few Friday night events, Lipscomb track and field left a big mark on the first day of competition at the Birmingham Southern Invitational.
Junior Isaiah Greer won the 3000m steeplechase, posting a 9:35.58s mark to best the field by more than 17 seconds. The run bettered Greer’s personal-best by almost 10 seconds.
In his first career steeplechase run, junior Geoff Musick posted a fourth-place finish in 10:04.53s.
Freshman Kendra Lobley led four Lady Bison runners into the top five of the women’s steeplechase with an 11:07.63s mark that bettered the meet records; she finished second.
Joining her in the top-five were senior Catherine Beals (third, 11:31.23s), freshman Missy Dowd (fourth, 11:57.71s) and freshman Lana Hojeij (fifth, 12:05.28s).
In his first collegiate triple jump competition, freshman Caleb Love was solid with a 12.84m (42’ 1.50”) leap, good for a fourth-place finish.
In women’s shot put action, freshman April Terry picked up a runner-up finish with an 11.71m (38’ 5”) toss.
The action continues in Birmingham tomorrow, beginning at 9 a.m.
