NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb track and field squad will split up and head to different events this weekend, with the Raleigh Relays March 30 and the Ole Miss Invite March 31.
Head coach Bill Taylor will take the distance runners to the Relays, hosted by North Carolina State, while assistant coach Luke Syverson leads the remaining Bison and Lady Bison athletes to Oxford. This will be the first appearance for Lipscomb at either meet.
At last weekend’s Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invite, sophomore Tucker Peabody won the 100m dash with a 10.99s, earning the fourth outdoor individual title of his career and 10th individual victory overall.
Freshman Kendra Lobley broke her third Lipscomb record, finishing runner-up in the 3000m run with a 9:40.80s mark. She destroyed the previous school-record by nearly 27 seconds. She also owns the 5000m and the mile run school-bests.
The Raleigh Relays, one of the nation’s most prestigious events, will be held at North Carolina State’s Paul Derr Track. The Lady Bison will be among 80 colleges and universities competing.
The Ole Miss Invite will feature a smaller field but a strong contingent of teams from around the Southeast. Alabama, Southern Illinois and Memphis will be among the competing schools at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex.
The track and field teams will pull double-duty again next weekend, sending most athletes to Auburn’s Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Ala., with select athletes being chosen to go to Palo Alto, Calif. for the prestigious Stanford Invite.
