Lipscomb enters stretch run at Auburn Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb track and field will head to Auburn this weekend for the Tiger Track Classic, beginning Friday at 4:30 p.m. (CT) with the hammer and javelin throw. The meet continues all day Saturday at Hutsell-Rosen Track.

At last weekend’s Ole Miss Invite, sophomore Tucker Peabody moved up in the A-Sun rankings in both the 100m and 200m dash. Peabody set a personal-best in the 100m dash (10.60s) and a season-best in the 200m (21.39s), taking the lead in the 200m and moving into second in the conference in the 100m.

Lipscomb also sent athletes to North Carolina State last weekend for the Raleigh Relays. Senior Ashley Lehman was the top Lipscomb competitor in Raleigh, finishing seventh in her heat of the women’s 5000m run with a personal-best 17:00.63s mark. That moved her into second in the conference in the 5K behind teammate Kendra Lobley.

Sophomore O’Neisha Smith has gained admittance into the invitational high jump competition at Auburn, joining some of the top high jumpers in the nation.

In addition to the host Tigers, Lipscomb will face athletes from Syracuse, Southern Miss, Wake Forest and A-Sun foes Belmont and Kennesaw State.

Lobley and sophomore Tessa Hoefle will not be in Auburn this weekend, instead taking flight to Palo Alto, Calif. for the prestigious Stanford Invite. Each will compete in Friday’s 5000m run.

Lipscomb has one final tune-up for the Atlantic Sun Championships at next weekend’s Boston Moon Classic, hosted by Tennessee State.
