MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb swept the Atlantic Sun Men's Indoor Track & Field weekly awards for the first time in program history following record-breaking performances by Tucker Peabody and Gemikal Prude.
"Tucker and Gemikal keep pushing the bar, and our school records ever higher,” Lipscomb track and field coach Bill Taylor said. “Both guys have the goal of qualifying for this NCAA I Indoor National Championships this year and they have a good chance. Certainly their start has been strong and we look forward to future competitions.”
Peabody, from Memphis, Tenn., blazed the track at the Emory Crossplex Invitational by winning the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.31 before setting the Lipscomb program record in the 60-meter dash (6.84). Peabody ranks first in the A-Sun for both events and 24th in the nation in the 200m. His time in the 200 meters was a second faster than second place finisher.
This is the fourth career indoor track performer of week award for Peabody from the A-Sun
Prude, from Melbourne, Fla., leaped to a height of 2.13 meters (6'11.75") in the high jump to finish in second place in the event. He set the program record at the meet and now ranks 35th in the nation and first in the A-Sun in the event by a one-inch margin.
His jump also broke the school record.
This is his second career indoor field performer of the week honor.
