MACON, Ga. – For the second consecutive week, Lipscomb sophomore Wayne Newman has earned the Atlantic Sun Track Athlete of the Week.
At the Alabama Relays over the weekend Newman blazed through the 110m high hurdles with a time of 14.27, breaking his own school record. He also increased his lead in the event in the A-Sun standings, and now ranks ninth in the East Region and 17th in the nation in the event.
For the 400m hurdles, Newman finished sixth with a time of 53.46 which also leads the A-Sun. In that event, the Arizona native ranks 15th in the East Region and 35th in the nation.
Newman and the rest of the Bison track and field squad will be back in action this weekend at the Raleigh Relays and the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invite.
