MACON, Ga. - After an impressive performance at the Husky Classic over the weekend, Lipscomb junior Madi Talbert and sophomore Christian Freeman have been named Atlantic Sun Indoor Track Athletes of the Week.
Talbert finished fourth in her heat in the 5000m at the Husky Classic on Saturday with a time of 16:42.85. The time broke Lipscomb’s indoor school record by 17 seconds, and bested her previous career high by 43 seconds. Talbert has the fastest 5000m time in the A-Sun.
Freeman also ran in the 5000m at the Husky Classic, posting a time of 14:29.40, good enough for fifth in his heat. The mark broke the Lipscomb record in the event by 18 seconds, and surpassed both his indoor and outdoor personal best. Freeman ranks second in the A-Sun in the 5000m.
This was the first career A-Sun indoor weekly award for both of the runners.
The Lipscomb track and field squad will return to action on Feb. 28 for the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships.
