Seven Bisons named A-Sun indoor track All-Academic

MACON, Ga. – Seven members of the Lipscomb track and field squad were named to the 2015 Atlantic Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team on Friday.

To qualify for the honor, the student-athletes have to own a GPA 0f 3.30 or higher and must have participated in over half of their team’s events for the indoor season. Four Bisons and three Lady Bisons who met the qualifications were voted in.

On the men’s side, senior Dan Coleman (3.76 GPA) and sophomores Juan Gonzalez (3.46), Daniel Lenart (3.87) and Wayne Newman (3.80) were all unanimously chosen for the distinction.

For the women’s team, sophomores Barbara Lee Ball (4.0) and Sally Larson (4.0) were also voted in unanimously. Senior April Terry (3.87) earned a spot on the All-Academic Team as well.

"We have such an amazing tradition of academic excellence in our programs,” Lipscomb director of cross country and track and field Bill Taylor said, “Madi Talbert was an Academic-All-American for Cross Country this year. We really expect to put a bunch of athletes on the A-Sun scholar teams for each sport. I'm very proud of these seven, and I am just as proud of our whole team that continues to post 3.7 team-cumulative GPA's, and earns national academic honors every year."

The track and field team will be kicking off its season today with the Lipscomb-Belmont Dual.
