Track & field heads to Emory for Sunday meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a successful performance at Vanderbilt to kick off the 2016 campaign, the Lipscomb track and field squad is set to take on its second meet of the season at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday.

This is the third straight year the Bisons will be competing at the Emory Crossplex Invite. Last season, the team grabbed several first place finishes and set a couple of school records on its way to earning first overall in both the men’s and women’s standings.

Many Bisons made their 2016 debuts last week at the Commodore Indoor Invite, but several more look to make their first impressions this weekend in Birmingham.

Junior Barbara Lee Ball is coming off of a career-best performance in the 3000m last weekend. She posted a time of 9:46.13 to win the event at the Commodore Invite by seven seconds.

Her feat earned her the first Atlantic Sun Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honor of 2016 and the fourth of her career.
