Newman nabs third career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week Award

MACON, Ga. – Thanks to a blistering performance at the Alabama Relays over the weekend, junior Wayne Newman was named the first Atlantic Sun Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week of 2016.

Newman has earned the A-Sun Runner of the Week status three times in his career, with the previous two awards coming in back-to-back weeks in March of last season.

At the Alabama Relays, Newman competed in two events. He finished third in the 400m hurdle with a time of 53.15 seconds, which is the fastest time in the A-Sun so far this season.

In the 110m hurdle, Newman placed sixth with a mark of 14.28 seconds. That time is also the fastest so far this season in the conference as well as the 22nd best in the NCAA.
