Track and field set for meets in Nashville, North Carolina

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb track and field squad will continue its outdoor campaign with a pair of meets over the weekend as the Bisons will take on both the Raleigh Relays and the Black & Gold Invitational.

The distance runners will head to North Carolina for the Raleigh Relays, while the rest of the student-athletes will stay here in Nashville for the Black & Gold Invite at Vanderbilt.

“Mostly distance runners will be going to the Raleigh Relays,” said Lipscomb assistant track and field coach Marcus Evans. “Historically, it’s a really fast meet for the 5K and 1500m. We’re really excited about Jake Poyner running the 1500, and Madi Talbert and some of the other girls running the 5K.”

The Purple and Gold competed in three meets at Vanderbilt during the indoor season, making this their fourth appearance in a meet there this season.

“Here at home, Vanderbilt’s always been a really good meet for us,” Evans said. “We’re looking to get the sprinters and jumpers going. Gemikal Prude will be jumping for the first time this year at the meet, so we’re excited to see that, plus Wayne Newman will be running both of the hurdle events.”
