Track and field heads to Florida for East Region Prelims

NASHVILLE – Five members of the Lipscomb track and field squad will be headed to Jacksonville, Florida to the campus of North Florida this weekend for the NCAA Division I East Region Preliminaries to compete across seven events for a spot in the National Championships.  

The meet will kick off on Thursday. The first Bison in action will be sophomore Wayne Newman in the first round of the 400m hurdles at 4 p.m. Juniors Barbara Lee Ball and Sally Larson will also be taking the track on Thursday in the 10,000m at 8 p.m.

Newman will begin the day for Lipscomb on Friday with his second event of the weekend, the first round of the 110m hurdle, at 4:30 p.m. Later that night (7:50 p.m.), senior Madi Talbert will compete in the 3000m steeplechase for the fourth consecutive season.

On Saturday, senior Gemikal Prude will lead off for the Purple and Gold with the high jump at 4:30 p.m. Talbert will close out the Bison participation for the weekend with her second race, the 5000m, at 7:05 p.m.
