Track and field heads to Illinois for Don DeNoon Invite

Carbondale, Ill. – The Lipscomb track and field squad is continuing its 2017 campaign with a trip to Illinois for the Don DeNoon Invitational.

The meet is set to begin on Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. and continue on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Purple and Gold are looking to continue its hot start to the first half of the Indoor season, including grabbing three wins at their previous meet, the Emory Crossplex Invite.

Senior Wayne Newman especially impressed, winning his sixth career ASUN Runner of the Week award after winning the 60m hurdle and placing seventh in the 400m.

Senior Jacob Poyner and junior Kacey Kemper also grabbed wins in the mile run and 800m, respectively.

Last season at the DeNoon Invite, Newman, senior Katie Bianchini and sophomore Sam Woodford all earned victories in their respective events.
