Track and field heads to Georgia Tech, Virginia for weekend meets

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb track and field squad will be taking on a pair of meets over the weekend as the Bisons are headed to take on the Virignia Challenge and the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Both meets take place on Friday and Saturday. The Virginia Challenge kicks off on Friday at 11 a.m. and will continue all day through Saturday. At Georgia Tech, the action will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday as well and continue on through Saturday afternoon.

“The competition is good at both places,” Lipscomb Director of Track and Field Bill Taylor said. “Both meets had some time requirements. Virginia is a really big and really fast competition. It should be perfect for us, especially our 10K runners, our steeplers, our 5K runners, and Wayne Newman, who will be going there.

“Georgia Tech is just a good, solid, upper tier, but not overwhelming, strong competition. Both should serve us very well before we take a little break for finals.”

With only a few more meets before the postseason begins, the Bisons are looking to continue their hot streak after last week’s performance at a trio of meets, the Mt. SAC Relays, the Austin Peay Invite, and the Bisons Outdoor Classic, which saw several school and personal records fall.
