Track and field treks to Jacksonville for ASUN Outdoor Championships

NASHVILLE – As another successful regular season hits the books, the Lipscomb track and field squad is set to enter the postseason as they head to Jacksonville to take part in the ASUN Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday.

After a campaign that saw the Purple and Gold grab eight ASUN Runner of the Week awards, set several personal and school records, and earn a few first-place podium spots, Lipscomb is looking to continue build upon that in the postseason.

Several Bisons head into the weekend expected to compete for an All-Conference slot, which is given to the top three finishers in each event.

Junior Kacey Kemper (1500m and 3000m Steeplechase), senior Wayne Newman (110m hurdle and 400m hurdle), junior Juan Gonzalez  (5000m and 10,000m), freshman Courtney Brenner (5000m), and freshman Ahmed Amaar (100m) each come in leading in their respective events.

Amaar (200m), sophomore Ryan Speer and freshman Nathan Morgan (800m), Kemper (800m), junior Jacob Poyner (1500m and 5000m), senior Katie Bianchini (1500m), sophomore Brent Leber and freshman John Green (10,000m), senior Barbara Lee Ball and Brenner (10,000m), sophomore Austin Peters (3000m Steeplechase), and sophomore Clare Losito (3000m Steeplechase) all sit in second or third in their various events.

The meet will kick off on Friday at 9 a.m. before continuing on throughout the day. The same schedule will take place on Saturday before the championship presentation takes place at 9 p.m.
