Schwind takes home first-career ASUN weekly award

LakePoint, Ga. – For the first time in his Bison career, Lipscomb freshman Jonathan Schwind has been named the ASUN Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league offices on Monday.

Schwind earned the honor after winning the 800m with a time of 1:52.54 at the Samford Open over the weekend.

His time is the second best in the ASUN currently. He only sits behind teammate Ryan Speer’s indoor school record time of 1:50.34 set at the Commodore Invite during the first meet of the season.

Both times are ahead of the ASUN Championship record pace for the event.

This was the second consecutive meet where Schwind scored a first-place finish. He won the mile at the Commodore Invite with a school indoor-record mark of 4:11.01.

The Bisons will be back on the track this weekend at the Liberty Kickoff in Lynchburg, Virginia.
