Track & field grabs six podium spots on day one at ASUN

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Lipscomb track and field squad got off to a strong start at the ASUN Outdoor Championships as the Bisons grabbed six podium spots in Jacksonville.

In the women’s 10,000m, seniors Katie Sperry and Avery Franklin placed second and third in times of 37:09.3 and 37:36.17, respectively.

Junior Bridgette Doucet (38:59.96) and freshman Lindsay Marriott (39:49.75) also placed fifth and sixth in the event to earn points as well.

In the men’s race, freshman Silas Griffith took third in 31:16.74, while sophomores Owen Glogovsky (31:46.07) and John Green (32:59.79) also earned points in fifth and sixth.

In the men’s 3000m steeplechase, sophomores Chase Hampton and Robert Rupp earned second and third place. They ran times of 9:19.35 and 9:20.28, respectively.

In the women’s race, junior Clare Losito finished third in 11:08.27 for an All-Conference spot.

In the field events, sophomore Brandon Belloni placed fifth in the men’s long jump with a 6.51m mark.

The Bisons will be back in action all day again tomorrow starting at 8 a.m.
