Track and field completes indoor regular season at USC Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Lipscomb track and field squad closed out the indoor regular season on Saturday with a trip to South Carolina for the 2019 USC Open.

Senior Kyle Johnson turned in the top performance for the Bisons, placing third in the mile with a time of 4:19.62.

Sophomore Tia Calvin finished 15th in the 60m dash in 8.04 seconds and 38th in the 200m in 26.30 seconds.

Fellow sophomore Jonathan Imes raced in the men’s 60m dash, finishing in 20th in 7.05 seconds. Freshman Demontae Wilson placed 32nd with a time of 7.14 seconds.

Wilson also grabbed 24th in the 400m with a 49.35 seconds mark.

In the men’s weight throw, sophomore Kindrick McLemore (13.00m) and junior Michel Hassel (12.97m) finished 11th and 13th, respectively.

Many Bisons had this weekend off in preparation for next weekend’s ASUN Indoor Championships.

The conference championship meet will take place on February 22 and 23 at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex in Lynchburg, Virginia.
