NASHVILLE – After a successful regular season, the Lipscomb track and field squad will head to the campus of Liberty in Lynchburg, Virginia for the 2019 ASUN Indoor Championships over the weekend.
Action begins on Friday morning with the women's pentathlon at 8:30 with the start of the men’s heptathlon followed by the women’s heptathlon at 8:45, continuing on through the men’s and women’s distance medley relays at 4:30 and 5 p.m.
On Saturday, the continuation of the men’s heptathlon will kick things off at 8:45 a.m., with the women’s 4x4000m relay closing things out at 4 p.m. An awards presentation will take place at 4:30.
Lipscomb enters the weekend having earned three ASUN weekly awards, including two Runner of the Week wins for junior Courtney Brenner and sophomore Jonathan Imes as well as a Freshman of the Week honor for Alex Tirado.
The Purple and Gold have also set a number of program records and grabbed their fair share of podium spots on the season so far.
Imes heads into the competition as the only Bison currently ranked in the top-100 nationally for an event, as he sits at 53rd in the 400m.
For the first time in ASUN history, the Indoor Conference Championships will feature a broadcast element as the league office has partnered with Liberty University and its on-campus broadcast studio to air a Championship Studio Recap Show on ESPN+. The live recap show is set for Saturday, Feb. 23rd at 6 p.m. once the conference meet concludes.
Hosted by Mike Hagen and Todd Patulski, the ASUN Indoor Championship Studio Recap on ESPN+ will feature footage from throughout the championship including interviews from trophy winners and the league's Championship's Most Valuable Performers.
