ATLANTA – After opening the outdoor season with a winning performance at the Black and Gold Invitational, Lipscomb junior Jonathan Schwind has been named the ASUN Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league offices on Wednesday.
The win was Schwind’s first ASUN weekly honor for outdoor and third overall after winning two for indoor last spring.
At Vanderbilt’s Invite, Schwind earned first place in the 800m with a new personal record time of 1:49.86.
The time currently stands as the fastest in the ASUN, third fastest in the East Region, and sixth fastest in the nation.
The Georgia native carried over his hot streak from indoor where he won three titles (800m, mile, DMR) at the ASUN Indoor Championships.
Schwind and the Bisons will be back in action this weekend at a trio of meets: the Raleigh Relays, the Florida Relays, and the Joey Haines Invite.
