Schwind earns two wins to lead track and field over weekend

NASHVILLE – The Bisons split up for a pair of meets over the weekend as the Lipscomb track and field squad competed at the Tiger Track Classic and the Hilltopper Relays.

Most of the Bisons trekked down to Alabama for the Tiger Track Classic, hosted by Auburn.

Jonathan Schwind’s performance paced the Bisons as the sophomore grabbed a pair of wins in his two events.

In the 1500m, Schwind ran a blazing time of 3:46.10, setting a new facility record at Hutsell-Rosen Track and shaving two seconds off his own program outdoor record set last week.

Junior Zach Israel was close behind in third, running a time of 3:51.00.

Schwind also won the 800m, finishing in a time of 1:49.44. Senior Ryan Speer joined him on the podium with a 1:50.89 mark.

In the 5000m, junior Grace Oetting (17:22.42), sophomore Kayla Rudie (17:24.63), sophomore Lauren Flynt (17:33.00), and senior Hannah Owens (17:52.39) placed third, fourth, sixth, and 10th.

Sophomore Jonathan Imes placed sixth in the 400m with a time of 47.52 seconds, which won his heat.

Junior Brody Beiler finished sixth in the 1500m in 4:03.52 after winning his heat.


Other notable results include:

Sophomore Grant Mason – 100m – 18th – 10.99 seconds

Freshman Alex Tirado – 200m – 22nd – 22.37 seconds

Junior Nathan Morgan – 800m – 12th – 1:55.04

Junior Owen Glogovsky – 5000m – 8th – 15:24.28.

Sophomore Jacob Snyder – 400m hurdles – 9th – 54.38 seconds


Only four Bisons competed at the Hilltopper Relays, hosted by Western Kentucky:

Freshman Jacob Sanzone – 400m – 55.81 seconds

Junior Brandon Belloni – long jump – 6.61m

Sophomore Michel Hassel – hammer throw – 36.16m

Sophomore Kindrick McLemore – hammer throw – 34.66m



The Bisons will travel to Georgia for the Berry Field Day Invitational on April 12 and 13.
