Track and field set for ASUN Outdoor Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. – The Lipscomb track and field squad is headed down to Florida for the ASUN Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at Hodges Stadium hosted by North Florida.

The Bisons are coming off a strong regular season and are looking to make a number of podium appearances during the championship meet.

The events will kick off on Friday at 8 a.m., with the final event coming at 7:20 p.m. Saturday will pick back up at 8 in the morning before concluding with the final event at 6:45 p.m. The championship presentation will take place at 7:30.

Lipscomb closed out the regular season at the Billy Hayes Invite at Indiana University on May 3, but several of the Bisons sat out in preparation for the ASUN Championships.

Sophomore Jonathan Schwind paced a successful regular season for the Bisons, grabbing two ASUN Track Athlete of the Week awards for his performances.

Last season at the ASUN Championships, also in Jacksonville, Lipscomb earned five wins, 13 all-conference spots, and two ASUN records, while three Bisons qualified for the East Region Prelims: former sprinter Wayne Newman and current Purple and Gold stars Courtney Brenner and Ryan Speer.
