Track and field to compete in Nashville at Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE - Bisons fans will have their only chance to catch the Lipscomb track and field squad in Nashville this month as they take on the Vanderbilt Invitational over the weekend.

The meet will kick off on Friday at 4 p.m. and continue on Saturday at 10 a.m. General admission tickets will be available for $5 at Vanderbilt’s Multipurpose Facility.

The competition will be tough across town, with five nationally-ranked programs among the 18 women’s and 17 men’s teams competing in the meet.

The Purple and Gold are coming off of a strong opening weekend of the 2020 indoor season, in which they traveled down to Birmingham, Alabama for the Blazer Invitational and the Vulcan Invitational.

For their performance, the Bisons nearly swept the ASUN weekly awards, with Ahmed Amaar taking home the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honor, Haley Kling winning the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honor, and Maddie Moody earning the Women’s Freshman of the Week award. 11 different Bisons earned top-10 spots between the two meets.
