Track and field grabs four top 10's, several personal records at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb track and field squad continued its strong start to the season over the weekend with a two-day trip across town for the Vanderbilt Invitational. 

The Bisons compiled four top-10 finishes over the two days and a number of athletes set new personal records. 

The men’s 3000m saw two Bisons in the top five as junior Brent Leber finished third in 8:11.90 and senior Zach Israel was close behind in fourth in 8:14.24. Both runners set new PR’s.

Junior Jonathan Imes placed third in the 400m in a personal record time of 47.55 seconds. 

Senior Courtney Brenner nearly finished in the top 10 in the 3000m, placing 11th in 9:44.13. 

Sophomore Grace Oetting won her section of the 3000m and placed 32nd overall with a career-best time of 10:04.95. 

In the 800m, sophomore Ryan Bush and freshman Lewis Ngwenya placed in the top two spots of their section to finish 13th and 16th overall with times of 1:52.97 and 1:54.22. 

Junior Jonathan Schwind (4:08.24), freshman Brady Johnson (4:15.52), and freshman Scott McKenzie (4:15.73) to place 14th, 27th, and 30th overall in the mile. 

Juniors Grant Mason (22.10 seconds) and Ahmed Amaar (22.11 seconds) finished 15th and 16th in the 200m. 

Sophomore Demontae Wilson placed 15th in 49.27 seconds in the 400m. 

The  Bisons will be back in action next weekend for the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
