During his four-year tenure, Evans has helped athletes break 24 school records including the men’s and women’s 4x400m relays, 110 Hurdles, and 200m. Under Evans, the Lipscomb sprinters and hurdlers turned in several podium finishes to help both the men’s and women’s teams earn their highest conference finishes in school history. Under Evans training and tutelage Tucker Peabody qualified for the NCAA East regional in 100m and 200m three times. Wayne Newman also qualified for the NCAA regional meet in the 110m Hurdles after breaking the 60m Hurdle and 110m Hurdle records multiple times.

Evans has also assisted with steeplechase/hurdling technique contributing to both the men’s and women’s 3000m Steeplechase records being broken. Marcus’ specific work with Madi Talbert has contributed to her 3x time qualification to the NCAA finals in Eugene Oregon where she has been awarded All-American status. Evans has also assisted in all six of the Cross Country Championships for the men (2)  and women (4).

Before his time at Lipscomb, Evans was an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Adrian College in Michigan, where he helped the sprinters, hurdlers and high jumpers. During his year at Adrian, Evans coached five MIAA conference champion sprinters and a NCAA Division III high jump qualifier.

Evans competed in track and field as a hurdler for Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville as a hurdler during the school’s transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. Evans was a team captain and served as vice-president and member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Evans is a two-time Division II NCAA provisional qualifier and Division I regional qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles. Evans is also a SIUE record holder as a member of the sprint medley relay. Evans earned GLVC all-conference honors as a 200-meter hurdle indoor champion and was member of the 4x400-meter relay team.

In 2010, Evans earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with an emphasis in television and radio from SIUE.
