The Bisons led throughout the first eight innings of game one, but for the second night in a row, the ninth inning was the deciding factor.
Lipscomb got on the board in the first after Allen Bolden scored on a throwing error by the pitcher.
The Bisons added to their lead with three more runs in the third. Bolden led off the inning with a single to left. The next batter, Tadd Brewer, singled on a hit and run, advancing Bolden to third. After Brewer stole second, Ryan Mitchell singled to drive in both runs. The third run of the inning scored on an RBI single by Ryan Price.
The Bulldogs pulled to within one with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
The Bisons responded with two of their own in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by an RBI single by Whit Reed. The other Bisons' run scored on an error by the Bulldogs' shortstop.
The Bulldogs scored a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to bring them to within one.
Bisons' starter right-hander Josh Smith came out to start the ninth but was removed with runners on first and second. In eight plus innings, Smith gave up seven runs, eight earned, on eight hits. He struck out four.
The Bulldogs scored three runs in the top of the ninth to take an 8-6 lead, their first of the game, and one they would not relinquish.
Despite receiving the loss, Smith pitched very effectively. He left the game with the lead, but both inherited runners scored. With the loss, Smith's record drops to 3-5.
Offensively, the Bisons were led by Brewer (three hits), Mitchell (two hits and two RBI's), and Reed (two hits).
In game two, Bisons' starter Paul Piennette held the Bulldogs scoreless over the first four innings before running into some trouble in the fifth. Freshman Brandon McClurg relieved Piennette with the bases loaded and the Bisons ahead 3-1. In four plus innings of work, Piennette gave up two runs on seven hits.
Mitchell and Reed led the Bisons on offense with three hits each.
David Ayre pitched the final three innings of the Bisons' 5-4 victory, giving up just one hit to record his first save of the season.
McClurg earned the win for the Bisons to improve his record to 3-1.
The Bisons are back in action on May 5, when they travel to Boca Raton, Florida to take on Florida Atlantic.
