Brent High has been named Assistant Director of Athletics for Development for Lipscomb University. High, a 1996 graduate of Lipscomb and former Bison baseball player, will focus on fundraising, corporate sponsorships, season tickets, group sales and other revenue-generating initiatives.
"The addition of Brent High to our athletic administrative staff is an important step in the continuing development of our NCAA Division I program," said Dr. Steve Potts, Lipscomb's director of athletics. "Brent has significant experience in the areas of athletic development, marketing and promotion and an overwhelming creative and enthusiastic nature.
"Most importantly, Brent shares the commitment to the Christian mission of Lipscomb University and its integration into our athletic program. We are so pleased to welcome him to our staff."
High will retain his position as president and partner in Third Coast Sports which has held "Faith Night" events with more than 50 professional sports teams including the Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball.
The events, which target Christian church groups, have been featured on the covers of USA Today, The New York Times and The San Francisco Chronicle as well as on national broadcast outlets including NBC Nightly News, CBS Evening News, ABC World News Tonight, Fox News Channel, CNN, ESPN's Outside the Lines, ESPN2's Cold Pizza, The Paul Harvey Show, The 700 Club, Gospel Music Channel and National Public Radio. In 2006 Associated Press featured Third Coast Sports in a piece that ran in over 200 newspapers on four continents.
"Lipscomb has been a blessing to me in more ways than I can count," said High. "I met my wife and many of my lifelong friends here. Now it's my goal to help make an eternal difference in the lives of the athletes and coaches that put on the purple and gold. There are so many great things happening here right now. I'm just honored to play a small role in the wave that I think will carry Lipscomb to unprecedented heights."
High previously served as vice president of sales for the Nashville Sounds minor league baseball team, vice president of operations for Jabez Networks, Inc. and as youth minister for the White House Church of Christ in White House, Tenn. He began his career as sports information and marketing director for the Lipscomb athletic department.
