Lipscomb's Lady Bisons split an Atlantic Sun doubleheader Friday night with North Florida.

The Lady Bisons, 4-2 in the conference, 17-16 overall, won the first game 5-2 and lost the nightcap 7-1 at Draper Diamond. The games pitted the top hitting team in the A-Sun against the second best pitching staff. North Florida is 2-2 in the conference, 24-15 overall.

The Lady Bisons are back home at Draper Diamond Saturday afternoon at 3 when Jacksonville visits for a A-Sun doubleheader.

The Lady Bisons didn't waste anytime putting runs on the board in game one.

The Lady Bisons scored three runs on the board in the first frame en route to a 5-2 win. Kellie Sirus singled driving in Leigh Little and Lauren Dortwegt for the first two Lipscomb runs of the game. Three batters later, pinch runner Samantha Little scored on Christen Campbell's sacrifice fly to left field.

In the bottom of the second, Leigh Little singled to left center to drive in Kristie Sirus extending the Lady Bison's lead to 4-0.

Lady Bisons pitcher Christen Campbell didn't allow a ball to reach the outfield until the top of the fifth when Ashley Parenteau hit a home run over the left field fence.

After two North Florida singles and a Lipscomb error in the sixth, North Florida cut the Lady Bison's lead to 4-2 on an RBI single by Parenteau.

The Lady Bisons added the security run in the bottom of the sixth when Niki Bails doubled to left field, then advanced to third when Kristie Sirus reached on an error, and finally scored on a wild pitch.

Campbell was credited with the win after pitching a seven-hit complete game striking out seven. Campbell leads the A-Sun in wins with a record of 11-6. She has thrown 14 complete games in 17 starts.

North Florida's Katie Brosky took the loss to fall to 8-8. She entered the game with a 1.83 earned run average before giving up five runs, two of which were earned.

In the nightcap North Florida jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. They added an insurance run in the fifth.

The Lady Bisons, held to only three hits by North Florida's Devyn Findley, scored their lone run in the second inning. Kellie Sirus opened the inning with a single to the shortstop and moved to second on a passed ball. Abby Keese slammed her fifth double of the season to left field to score Kellie Sirus.

Kim Jacobson started on the mound for the Lady Bisons allowing six runs, five earned, and five hits in one-third of an inning. Campbell went back to the mound and pitched 6 2/3 innings. She scattered six hits and gave up one run. She walked one and struck out four.
