Exhibition games can provide answers as well as asking more questions.
The Lipscomb Bisons shut down the University of Mobile 3-0 Monday night in an exhibition game at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. Lipscomb coach Charles Morrow got some answers in terms of personnel, but he still has some questions about his team.
"There is not a whole lot we can take away from this win other than to understand how to take a win in the right way," Morrow said. "It's a good start, but we are nowhere near the end. We will take a lot from the tape."
The Bisons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half as senior forward Ben Page, a preseason Atlantic Sun All-Conference Team selection, scored on a penalty kick at 28:05 and junior defender T.J. Williams scored with an assist from freshman defender Garrett McLaughlin at 37:15.
"T.J. doesn't normally play in the back for us and he did well," Morrow said. "Jeff Boynton played a great game. He played outside back, he played up top and he played in the midfield. He did a little bit of everything. And he was steady with everything he did. He didn't make any mistakes."
"Miguel did a great job, and we knew he would," Morrow said. "Josh Inglebright continues to do well. McLaughlin was the only freshman to play every minute tonight. He did a great job in the back."
Senior Jake Goergen was in goal for the Bisons.
"We played everybody who was eligible to play or who was not injured," Morrow said. "It was a good team effort. We still have a lot of work to do."
