Final Stats

For the second game in a row the Lipscomb Bisons were fit to be tied.

After jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the second half, the Bisons, who tied Belmont 0-0 Friday night, watched as Western Kentucky came back with two goals, setting up the overtime periods.

"It is disappointing to come away with the tie," said Lipscomb coach Charles Morrow. "We dominated the first half. But after we got the 2-0 lead we played too loose.

"We are disciplined enough to be able to put teams away. But we weren't disciplined enough to do it this time."

Senior forward Jorge Suarez and freshman forward Miguel DaSilva scored for the Bisons.

Suarez, making a rare start, capitalized on his opportunity as he scored at 49:59 with an assist from forward Ben Page.

"Jorge really worked hard," Morrow said. "He got his opportunity to play and he did a great job."

DaSilva stole the ball and turned and fired a shot over the goalkeeper's head for the Bisons second goal at 60:42. Josh Inglebright was credited with the assist.

Page had a game-high five shots. Page, Suarez and Kevin Terry each had two shots on goal.

Western Kentucky pulled within one goal at 65:58 when Ben Backstrom scored.

Andy Masteller scored the tying goal at 71:45 of regulation.

Lipscomb goalkeeper Jake Goergen made six saves. Western Kentucky goalkeeper Kyle Schroeder also made six saves.

Each team was credited with 16 shots and both had eight shots on goal.

Western Kentucky made two shots in the second overtime, but neither team made a shot on goal in the overtime periods.

Lipscomb is 1-5-2. Western Kentucky is 1-5-3.
