The Lipscomb Lady Bisons basketball team will be dealing with the unknown.
Sunday afternoon at 2 the Lady Bisons, 0-1, will be in Fayetteville, Ark., to face Arkansas from the Southeastern Conference in Walton Arena.
The Lady Razorbacks have a new coach, Tom Collen, and some new players.
"They are a little bit of an unknown," said Lipscomb coach Frank Bennett. "They are an SEC team so I know they will be bigger and have more talent. We will probably try to go with a bigger lineup to try to match up with them."
The Lady Bisons will be without forward Kaleigh Gossman, one of their key inside players. She is not expected to be back on the court until possibly the Bowling Green State game Thursday night.
The Lady Bisons opened the season with a 66-53 loss at Tennessee-Martin.
"We aren't executing our assignments," Bennett said. "I don't know if we are nervous or what since we are playing three freshmen and some players who didn't play that much last season."
Wing player Jilian Partin scored 14 points against Tennessee-Martin. She continues to be one of the most physically tough players for the Lady Bisons, but she has also added a 3-point shot this season.
"She always plays hard, but she is starting to knock down threes," Bennett said. "She really worked hard on her shooting over the summer. She is strong on the boards and she takes the ball to the basket, but adding the 3-point shot gives a new level to her game."
Another player that has impressed Bennett in the early stages of the season is junior post player Katie Rollins.
"Katie has really been playing solid," Bennett said. "She has simplified her game. She is getting rebounds. She is in better condition this season. She is playing harder."
Arkansas beat the Lady Bisons 77-39 last season at Allen Arena.
After being on the road for two games, the Lady Bisons are back at Allen Arena Tuesday night to face Fisk at 7 and Bowling Green State.
