The Lady Bisons volleyball team hopes that home is where the victories are.
Tuesday night at 7 they open a six-match home stand when Tennessee State University, an Ohio Valley Conference opponent, visits Allen Arena.
"TSU is a very athletic team," Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal said. "To be honest, though, right now it is about is. We are focusing on what we can take care of and what we can control. That is what we haven't done in some of these close matches like Evansville, Tennessee Tech and Mercer.
"We can do all of the work we want on other teams, but we have got to take care of some things on our end. Our season is not over. We just have to realize we have to take care of some issues if we are going to move forward."
Friday and Saturday the Lady Bisons return to Atlantic Sun competition. ETSU visits Friday a 5. USC Upstate makes its first ever stop on the Lipscomb campus Saturday at 3.
"It seems like we have been on the road for the past five or six weekends," said Rosenthal. "It's nice not to have to leave. We're excited to be at home.
"We caught some momentum and then we lost a little bit of it. We are trying to catch that again and see what happens."
Those conference matches take on even more importance as the Lady Bisons attempt to rebound from a 3-2 match loss Saturday at Mercer.
"We are excited about the way we are playing," Rosenthal said. "I'm not unhappy by any means.
"I thought we did a great job against Mercer. We just didn't finish up the games. If you let a team back in a game you are asking for it and that is what happened to us. We take ownership for that match. We learned a lesson and that message has been explained and understood."
The 2007 version of the Lady Bisons represents the most talent Rosenthal as ever assembled on the court. But four of his players are freshmen and two of them, setter Stefine Pease and middle blocker Alex Kelly, are starting.
"There is not doubt that this is the most talented team we have ever had," Rosenthal said. "Sometimes you tend to lose sight of the fact that talent doesn't necessarily equal experience. We have three or four freshmen playing, and sometimes sophomores who haven't played that much. It all adds up."
The Lady Bisons are 5-8. TSU is 5-7.
