The Lady Bisons are making their first ever trip to the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, but two of their players have there NCAA Tournament appearances between them.
The Lady Bisons had to win the Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship in order to earn the conterence's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
"I asked Sarah and Ann how it felt to be going to the tournament with us and they both said it was completely different," said Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal. "When you have to work for it as hard as we have it is an unbelievable feeling."
The Lady Bisons will find out who their first round opponent will be Sunday night at 7 when the NCAA Volleyball Tournament Selection Show is broadcast on ESPNU. Fans, family and friends of the Lady Bisons are invited to meet at Allen Arena to view the selection process.
There are 64 teams in the tournament. There will be 16 regional sites.
Snider, Mullins and senior outside hitter Ashley Cox all are from Southeastern Conference schools. Cox played for Auburn before transferring to Lipscomb.
"When I was talking to them I told all three of them to come here and be a part of something special," Rosenthal said. "I told them we don't have the big school name, but I promised them that we have something different."
Mullins, a member of the All A-Sun Second Team, pointed to the depth of the team as a key this season.
"We have to play the same way we have played the entire year when we get to the NCAA Tournament," Mullins said. "That's what got us this far. That can only get us one step further."
Snider, an All A-Sun First Team pick, agreed that the fact the Lady Bisons had to earn their berth by winning the conference title also makes a difference.
"It is well-earned," Snider said. "At an SEC school you are able to get in a lot easier. This proves that the Lipscomb program is special.
"The NCAA Tournament is going to be big time for us. We are going to be a lower seed. At Alabama we only made it through the first round my freshman and sophomore years. I have seen lower seeds win, It can be done. I feel really comfortable about it."
