Lipscomb University head coach Scott Sanderson announced Thursday that Nashville native Johnny Lee will join the Bisons basketball squad for the 2009-10 season.
Lee, who completed his undergraduate degree at George Washington University last week, played three years as a point guard for the Colonials. He will seek a graduate degree at Lipscomb.
“Johnny is a true point guard who will be a top-notch individual on and off the floor,” Sanderson said.
“He worked himself into a prominent role as the backup point guard for George Washington in the Atlantic 10 conference. The George Washington coaching staff spoke highly of his production and leadership skills.”
Lee was a four-year starter at Martin Luther King Magnet school where he graduated in 2005. He enrolled at George Washington where he joined the basketball team in October 2006.
Lee played in 20 games during the 2006-07 season. In his second year on the George Washington team he played in 26 games, starting nine. He averaged 2.1 assists with a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio in 15.7 minutes per game. Lee had a career-high 14 points at No. 9 Xavier on Mar. 1, 2008.
Last year Lee played in 24 games, starting two. He averaged 1.9 points and 1.7 assists in 12 minutes of action per game. Lee had 11 points, seven rebounds, and five assists against Rhode Island on Jan. 25.
Lee will be eligible to play immediately for the Bisons and is in his final year of eligibility.
