JOHNSON CITY - ETSU converted 25 points off Lipscomb turnovers to cruise to an 82-59 win against the Lady Bisons Saturday afternoon at the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.
Lipscomb (4-18, 2-10 A-Sun) turned the ball over 17 times. ETSU (12-7, 10-1 A-Sun) had 12 turnovers, but the Lady Bisons were only able to capitalize six points off them.
ETSU grabbed 55 rebounds to Lipscomb’s 38. ETSU entered the game as the top rebounding squad in the Atlantic Sun averaging 44.3 boards per contest. ETSU had 14 second chance points on 22 offensive rebounds.
It was the ninth time this year that Lipscomb was outrebounded by 10 or more boards.
The two squads met only nine days ago in Allen Arena with ETSU winning 76-65. Lipscomb had one of its strongest rebounding performances of the season in the contest equaling the Bucs with 39 rebounds.
Junior Jenna Bartsokas led Lipscomb with 11 points. Junior Valerie Bronson added 10 points.
Lipscomb opened the game on a strong note taking an 11-4 advantage seven minutes into the contest. It would be the largest lead of the game for the Lady Bisons.
ETSU hit back-to-back threes to take a 12-11 lead just under two minutes later.
Freshman Hannah Phillips gave the Lady Bisons their final lead of the contest when she made a layup with 8:19 left in the first.
ETSU outscored Lipscomb 26-13 over the final eight minutes to take a 42-31 halftime lead.
The Bucs gradually built their advantage in the second half. TaRonda Wiles drained a 3-pointer with 8:27 remaining to give ETSU a 22-point lead, 68-46.
Tarita Gordan gave ETSU their largest lead of the game, 25 points, with a layup at the 6:52 mark.
Lipscomb shot 36.8 percent (21-of-57) from the field and 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from beyond the arc. The Lady Bisons struggled from the charity line hitting just nine-of-19 attempts (47.4 percent).
ETSU was 29-of-75 from the field for 38.7 percent. The Bucs converted 16 of their 24 attempts (66.7 percent).
Wiles paced four ETSU players with 18 points on eight-of-12 shooting. A-Sun preseason player of the year Siarre Evans finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Brittany Duerk and Chelsea McMeans had six rebounds each to lead the Lady Bisons.
Lipscomb has lost 16 consecutive road contests dating to a loss at USC Upstate on Jan. 15 last year.
