JUAN DOLIO, D.R. - Sunday morning the Bisons basketball team attended a Dominican church in San Pedro called "John 3:16" and in the evening the Bisons defeated Club Calero 111-73.
The team departed the hotel at 9 a.m. for the thirty minute drive to San Pedro to attended church services at "John 3:16" which is financially supported by SCORE International. The service started about 9:45 and the attendees continued to flow in until about 10 a.m.
There weren't many adults in attendance, but there were about 40 children who were split into two groups - one in a back room and the other outside - for "Sunday School" during the sermon. Prior to the sermon, Bisons senior Jordan Burgason gave a testimonial to the church.

The preacher spoke from Luke 10 about the Good Samaritan. After church concluded the team took pictures with the children before heading back to the hotel for lunch.
The Bisons left for Santo Domingo about 5 p.m. for the night's game against Club Calero. They were the best of the three teams the Bisons have played against. The game was once-again held in an open air gym. The gym was built with a government grant and is owned and maintained by Calero.
Lipscomb cruised to a 111-73 victory and freshman Zavion Williams led the Bisons with 17 points while JUCO transfer Deonte Alexander added 15.
The Bisons power forwards and centers (Damarius Smith, Malcolm Smith, Stephen Hurt, and Marvin Williams) combined to shoot 16-of-17 from the field. The guards committed just four turnovers and overall Lipscomb forced 16 steals.
Monday morning the team will visit La Romana girl's orphanage and in the evening the Bisons will play their final game against Universidad Autónoma de Santo Doming. The "Santo Domingo Autonomous University" is a public university with over 160,000 students. It opened in 1538 and is the oldest university in the Americas.
