SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. -- Behind a final-round 72, Lipscomb head golf coach Buddy Hartson claimed his fourth Tennessee State Senior PGA championship in five years.
“I’ve been fortunate to win four of the last five years, “ said Harston. “I won it last year, so I wanted to defend. I started working really hard on my short game about two weeks ago because they have really fast greens.”
After an opening round 71 at Riverbend Country Club in Shelbyville, Harston found himself trailing after 11 holes in the final round but an eagle on the par-five 14th hole regained the lead. Harston would then par the final four holes to finish ahead by two strokes.
“(The win) qualifies me for the National Senior PGA Club Pro Championship in October,” said Harston.
Harston will make the trek to Virginia for the tournament slated for Oct. 6-10.
