NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On the heels of opening Atlantic Sun Conference play with an 80-70 win over Mercer on Thursday night, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team continues home A-Sun action on Saturday afternoon hosting Kennesaw State at 2:15 p.m. at Allen Arena.
The Lady Bisons (1-7, 1-0 A-Sun) take on the Owls (2-4, 0-1 A-Sun), who dropped a close 57-55 contest at Belmont on Thursday night in the “Music City”.
Lipscomb welcomed senior wing Leah McAlister back to the lineup on Thursday night and the veteran paid immediate dividends scoring 15 points in only 17 minutes of action. The Lady Bisons also got 18 points from junior Hannah Phillips, just one point off her career high. Phillips is averaging 10.5 points per game this season trailing only senior guard Anna Bowers, who is averaging 11.3 points per contest.
The opponent: Kennesaw State holds a 7-3 advantage all-time in the series with Lipscomb but the schools spilt a pair of 68-58 contests a year ago with each team winning on their home floor. The Owls have four players averaging in double figures led by Ashley Holliday, who is scoring 13.7 points a night. She’s followed by Sametria Gideon, who is right on Holliday’s heels with a 13.5 average.
Tickets: Tickets for Saturday’s doubleheader that features the men’s tilt against Kennesaw State at Noon are on sale at the Lipscomb ticket office at Allen Arena or online at http://www.LipscombTickets.com
