FORT MYERS, Fla. – Despite 16-point nights from senior Anna Bowers and junior Morgan Faulkner, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team could not keep pace with the high-octane Florida Gulf Coast offense falling 97-54 in Atlantic Sun Conference action at Alico Arena in Fort Myers.

The Eagles (22-2, 14-0 A-Sun) kept their A-Sun record perfect by nailing 17 three pointers and forcing 24 Lady Bison (5-19, 3-10 A-Sun) as FGCU won its 14th-straight contest .  FGCU forced 14 of those turnovers in the opening stanza as the Lady Bison trailed 47-25 at the break.   

Bowers scored in double digits for the 12th-straight game behind 7-of-9 shooting from the floor for Lipscomb while Faulkner’s 16 including a perfect 3-for-3 night beyond the arch matched her season high.

The Eagles spread the wealth around with five players in double figures led by Whitney Knight’s 19-point effort.  Sarah Hansen pulled in a game-high nine rebounds as the Eagles outrebounded Lipscomb 37-23.

A shortened bench for the Lady Bison saw only eight players take the floor.  Freshman Jana Wright played a season-high 22 minutes in the loss.

The Lady Bison continue A-Sun road action on Saturday taking on Stetson at Noon in Deland.
