Friday, February 10, 2012

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Not only did the Lipscomb baseball team work hard on the diamond this past fall, the Bison also put their noses to the grindstone in the classroom putting combining for a 3.18 grade point average, the highest mark in school history.

The Bison were led by a pair of 4.0’s from junior Tennyson Todd, who achieved the benchmark while taking 21 hours, and freshman Brandon Thomas., who took 17 hours in his first semester.

“We have been striving for a semester GPA of 3.0 for several semesters & finally got it this fall,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand.  “The guys have made a commitment in the classroom and on the field.  Dr. (Lin) Garner has been very instrumental in helping us achieve our goal.  We hope to follow up with another good semester in the classroom this spring.”

The Bison as a team raised their cumulative GPA to a 2.98.

“This says a lot about our team’s work ethic by how diligent they are in the classroom,” said Forehand.  “I look forward to seeing that transfer to the field.”

Lipscomb opens the 2012 campaign next Friday co-hosting the “Mule Mix Classic” with the season opener against Saint Louis at 4 p.m. at Ken Dugan Field.  To order season tickets visit http://www.lipscombtickets.com
