NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball returns home to Allen Arena on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. hoping to snap a 13-game winning streak that ETSU is riding in the “Music City”.  The contest is “Think Pink” night for Lipscomb to highlight breast cancer awareness and to raise funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund with all proceeds from single-game ticket sales going to the organization. Fans are encouraged to join the Lipscomb squad in wearing pink to the game

The Lady Bucs (6-19, 5-9) have rattled off a baker’s dozen of wins against teams in Nashville dating back to 2007 when Lipscomb (5-20, 3-11) downed ETSU on Feb. 3, 2007.  That victory marks the only win in 16 tries for the Purple and Gold.

The Lady Bison continue to be led by senior guard Anna Bowers, who posted a 21-point effort in the loss at Stetson on Saturday.  The veteran raised her scoring average to 14.4 points per game in Atlantic Sun Conference contests and 13 points per game overall.  The Brentwood native enters Thursday night’s contest needing only two three pointers to become the all-time career leader at Lipscomb beyond the arch.

Along with Bowers, junior wing Hannah Phillips continues to be a big contributor averaging 11.7 points per contest and leading the team in rebounding (5.2 rebounds per game), assists (63) and steals (42).  Fellow classmate Morgan Faulkner has picked up her scoring pace as of late as well.  The junior has scored in double figures in five straight contests for the Lady Bison.

Junior guard Haley Nelson and freshman post Kateca Favors were dismissed from the team Monday for a violation of team rules.

The opponent:  Like Lipscomb, ETSU has dropped the last three contests falling at home to Jacksonville and North Florida and losing at Kennesaw.

The Lady Bucs are led by sophomore guard Destiny Mitchell, who averages 12.2 points per game and hauls in 8.2 rebounds a night.  Mitchell is joined in double figures by senior guard Natalie Pickwell, who averages 10.5 points per outing.

Up next: The Lady Bison wrap up the 2011-12 home slate on Saturday afternoon hosting USC Upstate at 4 p.m. at Allen Arena.  Lipscomb will take time to honor the 2012 senior class following the contest.  Visit http://www.lipscombtickets.com to purchase tickets.
