NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb baseball team continues home action this weekend taking on Siena in a non-conference, three-game series on Saturday and Sunday at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium in Nashville.

Both teams head into the three-game set looking to pick up some momentum as conference play quickly approaches.   Siena (1-10) heads to the “Music City” from Loudonville, N.Y., having played all 11 games so far on the road and the Saints will not open home play March 28.

“We have a series this weekend that both teams need to play well and get their seasons back on track as far as what’s happened in the first quarter of it,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand. “We’re looking forward to this weekend. We feel like we’ve played really well and haven’t come up with any victories here in the last few games.”

Saturday features a doubleheader between the Bison (4-10) and the Saints beginning at Noon. Lipscomb will send senior righty Connor Sinclair (1-1, 2.00 ERA) to the hill in the opener to face Siena’s Ryan Poplawski (0-3, 7.36 ERA) a southpaw.  Lipscomb junior lefty Blake Fonfara (0-2, 5.40 ERA) gets the nod in the nightcap for the Bison to go up against righty Justin Brantley (0-2, 5.29 ERA).

Sunday’s contest will see Lipscomb junior righthander Josh Cotham (0-1, 2.41 ERA) take on lefty Matt Gage (0-0, 5.06 ERA).

Junior right fielder Lee Wilson continues to pace Lipscomb in hitting with a .393 average at the plate that ranks 11th best in the Atlantic Sun Conference.  Senior infielder Zak Messer has been the power threat for the Bison early on leading the team with three homers and eight doubles, a figure that ranks tied for seventh nationally.
