NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women’s soccer returns to the friendly confines of the Lipscomb Soccer Complex on Friday, Aug. 31, hosting Chattanooga in a 7 p.m. match.

The Lady Bisons (2-2-0) are fresh off a 1-0 victory at Austin Peay on Tuesday night. Freshman Leah Wood scored the game’s only goal in the 38th minute, converting on a corner kick.

Having a major impact on the young season has been the rise of the freshman. Four of the top five Lady Bisons with shot attempts are freshman. Caroline Chadwell leads the team with 13 shots, Emily Shuler has five shots, Leah Wood has four shots and Molly Bray has three shots. The lone exception is sophomore Baylee Linnell with eight shots.

Chattanooga sits 1-2-0, coming off a 1-0 loss to Alabama State last Sunday. Led by Skylar Brewer with two goals and an assist on the young season, the Mocs were picked to finish 12th in the Southern Conference. Becca Smith, with one goal and 13 shots, was chosen for the Preseason All-Conference team. Goalkeeper Lauren Thomas has remained relatively untested seeing eight shots on goal. She has five saves on the season.

Meeting every year since the 2007 season, the Mocs hold a 3-2 advantage over the Lady Bisons. LU won 2-1 in 2010 and fell 2-0 last season.

Following Friday’s contest, the Lady Bisons remain at home on Thursday, Sept. 6 with a 7 p.m. match against Trevecca.
