NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The last time the Lipscomb volleyball team played against Arizona in a tournament was when they had no volleyball banners hanging up in Allen Arena.

The Lady Bisons faced the Wildcats in a tournament at Pepperdine in 2007.  LU started the season 1-6, like this season, and went on to win their first Atlantic Sun Championship.

“That year in 2007 was the start of things,” Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal said.  “It will be interesting to play Arizona again five years later well into our progression and well into what we are trying to do and building a program.”

Along with Arizona (3-2), the Lady Bisons (2-6) will play against TCU (5-1) and Iona (2-5).  LU plays a doubleheader on Friday, Sept. 7th with the Horned Frogs at 2:30 p.m. followed by the Gaels at 6:30 p.m. before finishing up with the Wildcats on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Lady Bisons are coming off a 3-0 home victory against Austin Peay Tuesday night.  Sophomore Jewell Dobson and freshman Molly Spitznagle led the charge for LU.  Spitznagle set a career-high with 10 kills and Dobson had 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .722, second highest in school history with at least 12 kills.

Caitlin Dotson ranks second in the Atlantic Sun Conference with 10.88 assists per set.  The junior has 261 assists this season with four matches of 40 or more assists.

After the Arizona Invitational, the Lady Bisons head north to Western Kentucky for their last match before the A-Sun conference schedule on Tuesday night, Sept. 11th at 7.
