NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men’s soccer team welcomes Belmont, Elon and Oral Roberts to the Lipscomb Soccer Complex this weekend for the Hyatt Place Select Lipscomb Invitational.

The Bisons (1-3-0, 0-0-0 ASUN) are coming off a weekend that delivered their first win of the season and a hard-fought loss at the University of Central Arkansas Invitational.

Lipscomb picked up the victory over Central Arkansas 1-0 as Omar Djabi delivered on his first career goal. Taking a pass from defender Ethan Summers, Djabi took a shot from the right side of the goal, 15-yards out, placing the ball in the back of the net.

In the Bisons second game, a defensive battle, LU fell 1-0 to Missouri State. Each team combined for just eight shots in the contest. Djabi and Summers were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts.

Elon, picked fourth in the Southern Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, enters the weekend with a 1-1-0 record, most recently coming off a 3-1 victory over Campbell. Chris Thomas and Gabe Latigue have two goals for the Phoenix while Thomas has added two assists to go along with a team-high ten shots. Both were chosen as members of the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team. Goalkeeper Nathan Dean has given up five goals while making eight saves, for a .583 save percentage.

Oral Roberts, a participant in last weekend’s UCA Invitational, enters this weekend 0-3-0 after falling 1-0 to Missouri State and 3-0 to Central Arkansas. Tom Adams scored the lone goal of the season for the Golden Eagles. Cody Lofgren and Johnny Chavez have four shots on the season. Goalkeeper Ryan Grashik has given up nine goals, a 3.21 goals against average.

Following this weekend’s Invitational, the Bisons will play in the Belmont Tournament at Rose Park against Bradley and Central Connecticut State on Sept. 14 and 16 respectively.
