NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Beginning the second round of Atlantic Sun Conference action, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team will hit the road but stay in-state as they play at ETSU on Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. in Johnson City.
The Lady Bisons, 2-17 overall and 1-8 in A-Sun action, look to rebound after falling to Kennesaw State on Monday. Senior Hannah Phillips scored a game-high 17 points but a double-double from Sametria Gideon with 16 rebounds and 13 points helped put the game out of reach.
“You always try to figure out what you can learn from a game,” Lipscomb head coach Greg Brown said afterwards. “We still have an opportunity to make the conference tournament and have a chance to get into the middle of the pack.”
Phillips leads the team with 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Freshman Alex Banks leads all A-Sun freshmen with 11.9 points per game in the first nine conference contests.
The Lady Bucs enter 5-11 overall and 3-6 in conference play, holding down the eighth position in the A-Sun standings. Led by Destiny Mitchell with 12.4 points and 9 rebounds per game, ETSU averages 61.9 points while snagging 42.2 rebounds per game.
In the first meeting of the year between the Lady Bisons and Lady Bucs, ETSU pulled out an 80-74 victory. The Lady Bisons held Mitchell to just five points but let Brianna McQueen score 23 in the effort. Lipscomb had three in double-figures led by freshman Alex Banks with 15 points. Phillips and freshman Presley Stastny each scored 14 apiece.
