Don't let the final score fool you.
Such would be the case for the Lipscomb Bisons soccer team in their 3-1 loss at Florida Atlantic Thursday night in Atlantic Sun action in Boca Raton.
All four goals in the game were scored in the second period. Despite giving up three goals, Lipscomb Coach Charles Morrow thought his team put in a solid effort in the second period.
"We didn't have a great first half, but we played pretty well in the second half," said Morrow. "We had them on the ropes."
The Bisons dealt with a couple of setbacks in the second period, including having a goal called back for offsides.
"We were creating chances, especially from the 45-minute-to-65-minute mark," Morrow said.
All four goals were scored in a little more than 15 minutes.
Samuel Dzegede scored the first goal for FAU on a breakaway at the 63-minute mark. Leonardo De Mata made it 2-0 FAU at 72:39 scoring on a cross from Aaron McDonald.
Ran Poliker scored the final goal of the game, giving FAU a 3-1 lead at 78:10.
Florida Atlantic outshot the Bisons 14-12. They also held a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Florida Atlantic made seven shots in each period. The Bisons had four shots in the first period and eight in the second.
Bisons goalkeeper J.D. Murphy made six saves. Florida Atlantic goalkeeper Anders Granstad made five saves.
FAU is 6-7, 3-1 in the A-Sun. The Bisons are 3-8-1, 1-5-0 in the conference.
